Sunday 2nd November 2008 - Daddy was awake very early this morning and was very busy tidying up our room. Then he went out to have a shower and when he came back he gave me a bath. I'm starting to enjoy having baths again but it's very difficult having them because my hickman line and other tube in my foot need to be protected so they don't get too wet. Daddy did a good job of protecting my hickman line by cutting a finger off one of the gloves my nurses use and taping it to the end of my line. He then tried taping a glove over the bandage covering the line in my foot. It didn't work so the bandage got soaked and needed changing after I'd had my bath. Daddy said I smelt much better after my bath and that mummy was on her way and would want nice cuddles with a clean banana (daddy always calls me his little banana!) and not a stinky one!
I wasn't sick again after I'd had my milk and my nurse said I'd lost a small amount of weight since yesterday. My nurse said daddy should carry on feeding me solid food as well as letting me try to take my bottles too which daddy said he'd do. All my other obs were fine and my nurse said the doctors were on their way to see me.
I only had one doctor come and see me today. He said I was looking very well and he was pleased with my progress. Daddy didn't ask about when I might be allowed home as each time he does the doctors say they don't know. The doctor did say I was going to have an ECG done at some point in the day though as I was losing weight again and they need to check my heart rhythm is ok.
Me and daddy played for a little bit and then we watched lots of men chasing a ball on the tv. It was very interesting and I loved sitting watching it with daddy while we had a cuddle. After a while though I got tired so daddy let me have a sleep.
I hadn't been asleep that long when I was woken up. At first I thought I was dreaming that mummy was calling me but then I thought I felt her stroking my hair and I opened my eyes. I saw mummy and still thought I was dreaming and started to cry. But then I realised I couldn't be dreaming because mummy picked me up and gave me a really big snuggle cuddle! It was sooooooo nice! I've really missed mummy and I bashed her a little bit to tell her off for leaving me. But I didn't bash her for too long because I know she only left so she could spend some time with Dylan who I think is also missing mummy and daddy too. Hopefully we'll all be home together soon...!
Granddad had brought mummy back to London so I had some cuddles with him too and we all played peek-a-boo and played with some of my toys too. Daddy gave me some Spaghetti Bolognese for lunch (with lumpy bits) and I ate quite a bit and wasn't sick. Then I had some milk and tried to have a sleep. I was very excited that mummy was back though so I didn't sleep that much and I had more cuddles with mummy.
When I'd played some more with mummy and daddy auntie Cassie, uncle Dom, cousin Cain and cousin Callum came to see me too. I tried to have another sleep but there was too much happening so I stayed awake and then I was sick a little bit so everybody left so I could get some sleep. When they all came back a bit later I was very upset because I was having my ECG done and my nurse was taking the sticky pads off and it was a little bit sore. Daddy gave me a big cuddle though and I soon cheered up. My nurse told mummy and daddy that my INR levels were up to 2.4 and had been for 2 days! This is very good because they are trying to get them to 2.5 so I'm nearly there...!
Daddy tried giving me some chocolate pudding but I wasn't really hungry so I only had a couple of spoonfuls. Then we watched the pretty cars for a little while and mummy gave me some cuddles. Mummy gave me some milk from my bottle and I wasn't sick again. Then grandad, auntie Cassie, uncle Dom, cousin Cain and cousin Callum all left.
I got sleepy so mummy put me in my cot and played a silly game with me my putting her hair over her face and playing peek-a-boo. It was very funny and I laughed lots. I've missed my mummy!
I fell asleep very quickly and can't wait to have lots of playtime and cuddles with mummy and daddy tomorrow.
